Ought not have sat
Too close to fall
Well within your magnetic field
And to get veins and nerves electrified.
A wandering pair of probing eyes
Got stuck at provocative projections;
That I shouldn’t have allowed,
Sure you felt the thrust,
But you feigned ignorance.
With outwardly calm
The sea looked up to see
The grey waning moon
Flushed with re-charged youthfulness
Conscious of the invisible curtain,
That stood raised between us,
Woven by warp and weft
Of cultural heritage and conjugal fidelity,
That we both respect much,
I heard your heart wisper,
“Let’s behave as better humans;
Restraint, platonic, Awfully Grand’.”.
